New Port Richey Mom is Proof that Home-Based Businesses Work, and She Hopes to Help Other Women Too

New Pt. Richey, FL, December 15, 2011 – Businesses like Thirty-One Gifts, Pampered Chef and Tupperware proclaim that any woman can be a successful business owner by selling their products to other women, primarily through home parties. This promise of success seems too good to be true for most. However, Kim Washington, a New Port Richey mother of two and Thirty-One Gifts Independent Senior Executive Director is living proof that you can build a successful business selling these products, and she hopes to share her story of success with as many women who’ll listen.

In September 2006, Kim began her Thirty-One career for the same reasons so many other woman do – because her family was hurting financially and the idea of making a little bit of extra money was too good to pass up. During her first year, Kim earned $12,000 selling Thirty-One products. During her second year as a consultant, Kim’s husband, Dave, was laid off from his job, and her Thirty-One business helped her pay their mortgage and other living expenses during that difficult period.

Fast forward to today. In 2011, Kim estimates that she will make in excess of $325,000 for her family, based on her own sales and the sales of her more than 3,000 consultants on “Team Washington.” This success has not only allowed her to quit her full time job in human resources, but it has also allowed Dave to quit a high-paying job he was unhappy at and instead work at a fun job that he loves.

“I know that it is difficult for people to believe that you can have the kind of success I’ve had by selling purses and tote bags, but it is possible,” said Kim. “I’m at a place in my life now where I not only want to help other woman succeed as I have, but I also want to continue to help my community in ways that only my success with Thirty-One has made possible.”

For example:
• Kim is one of two local ambassadors for Thirty-One Gifts to the Children’s Dream Fund in St. Petersburg. Thirty-One Gifts is donating 1,000 bags to this worthy cause.
• In 2010, Kim donated $500 worth of Thirty-One products to the Salvation Army of Pasco County’s Domestic Violence Program.
• In 2011, Kim donated $1,000 in Thirty-One zipper pouches to the “For the Girl’s International” Little Girls Conference (SHINE), a West Pasco County faith-based non-profit organization.
• Kim donated $600 worth of Thirty-One pencil pouches to Longleaf Elementary School during the 2011 Great American Teach-In.

Kim is looking for additional opportunities to partner with local schools and/or non-profits on fundraising events or other activities. She is also looking for ways to share her message of success with other women. She can be reached at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or at http://www.mythirtyone.com/kimw31.
